09/01/2010 - Nikon D7000 Rumor: Fake D7000 Picture: NR has posted a picture of a D7000, originally from a fotofabrikas post way back in May. The picture appears to be a Nikon D90 with "D7000" photoshopped on, and a different shutter release added (black, not shiny, detail around the shutter release is a little different from the D90).

08/31/2010 - Nikon D800 Rumor: New D700 Kit: According to Nikon Direct, the Nikon D700 will soon be sold with as a kit with the newly announced 28-300mm lens. While by no means conclusive proof, if Nikon are investing in new packaging and promotion of a new kit, this would imply that the D700 is likely to be a current camera for at least a few more weeks, if not months. 08/31/2010 - Nikon D800 Rumor: No D700s but 16Mp D800: DigitalRev claims one of their sources says Nikon is going to skip the D700s, so they can make a bigger impact with a 16mp D800 (with the same specs as the D3s other than megapixels).
The go on to list specs including ISO 102,400 and 1080p video, and claim it will be announced by the end of this year.
The D3s was a big step in terms of noise performance. This proposed D800 would be another big step (keeping the same noise levels but with the much smaller photosites needed for a 16mp sensor). 08/31/2010 - Nikon D4 Rumor: Soon Claims UK Dealer: NI is claiming a big UK dealer claims the Canon 1Ds Mark IV could be announced on Thursday.

08/31/2010 - Nikon D90s Rumor: D90 Replacement Will Be Called D7000: NR claims the D90 replacement will be called the D7000, but gives no further information.
However this makes perfect sense. As we speculated many months ago, if the D90 replacement was to be a tweaked version of the D90 based on a derivative of the same sensor (like the D300s and others), then the replacement would be called the D90s. However if it had a new sensor, it would be the D7000 (why? because the entire consumer line naming is changing to Dxxxx, and the higher-end bodies in a given line always begin with a '7': the D70 was the first 'advanced consumer' model in the consumer model, and the D700 was the first full frame prosumer model, so the name D7000 is the obvious choice for the next 'advanced-consumer' model).
Given the new D3100 appears to have a Nikon produced sensor (as opposed to a refined Sony sensor), it appears that Nikon may be producing their own sensors for all future models. 08/26/2010 - Canon EOS 70D Latest Rumors: We've added a new Rumor Center for the Canon EOS 70D, tracking and ranking all the latest rumors. With the 60D announced on the 26th August, 2010, the Canon xxD line continues. At some point the 60D will be discontinued, and presuming there isn't a huge model-line shake-up, the most likely candidate for replacement will called the 70D. Cameras in Canons xxD series have lasted anywhere from 12 to 24 months, so that puts a potential 70D anywhere from summer 2011 to summer 2012. We'll track rumors here as they start to emerge. 08/26/2010 - Busted: Canon EOS 60D Rumor - More on the 18 month cycle: Status: According to NI's trusted source, timing for the launch of the 60d is 'up for discussion' but internal pressures at Canon are to put it back on an 18 month cycle. This due to weaker overall demand and reduction in competitive pressure. The design is advanced and allows for a possible August/ September 2009 release but is 90+% likely to be delayed until January / February 2010.
This makes a lot of sense given the current economy (or lack thereof), however a lot will depend upon what Nikon, and to some extent Sony release in the mean time.

08/26/2010 - Busted: Canon EOS 60D Rumor - Specs: Status: CR is reporting the Canon 60D will have an updated 15.1 megapixel sensor, 1080p/30f.p.s. video (basically what the 5D Mk II has now), new AF system, 8 f.p.s. and DIGIC V.

"If you are looking at DSLR you should wait. I had a conversation with a Canon rep during the DGA meet last weekend. He advised me to sell my T1i before the second week of September. Apparently there will be a new one coming out with 24p and , possibly, RAW video out from Canon. Priced around $1500. S35 sensor and Eos mount for use with all Canon glass."
