Pros: Very feature-rich, superb image quality, lightweight
Cons: When in a kit, forget the kit lens. Buy the camera alone and use with an L series lens.
Cannot recommend enough as the best price/value DSLR for beginners. It's follower the 500D isn't worth the extra money, rather go for a 40D or just buy a good lens from the L series ;)
Not a surprise that this camera got the "Best DSLR advanced" award (TIPA 2008).
By the way, lots of people say it's entry level. Actually I think, TIPA isn't wrong with "advanced". Only the top LCD is missing. The plastic is hard and rugged, it's absolutely enough for this weight. I wanted to sell it, but for now I kept it and mainly use my extreme fast prime lenses while the zooms are on the 7D.
And again: I like it's size, and missing no feature at all. Best DSLR to carry around when travelling, without having a hurting neck at the end of the day. And the images are perfect. With a 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM I captured blade sharp images on Tahiti..
