Review: Nikon D300
For me, the smaller form factor, lighter carry weight, and high ISO capabilities give the nod to the D300, but I'm still very happy with my D2x for landscape work. Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
The D300 was designed to be a better D2X at a third of the cost. Nikon succeeded admirably in this design goal. The D300 delivers superb image quality along with worthwhile feature and functionality advancements. Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
With the advent of the D300 however Nikon has conclusively removed this disparity and if anything stepped ahead of Canon ... My biggest problem writing this conclusion has been picking out the D300's weak points. Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
When Nikon announced the D300, the digital photography world stood up and took notice. When people call the D300 a "baby D3", they're not kidding. The D300 has nearly the exact same feature set... Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
Nikon's D300 is a photographer's camera ... The Nikon D300's incredible sophistication kept it in the lab longer than most recent SLRs, because there are so many interesting and unique modes to explore and test. Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
I found that the D300 exceeded my expectations. This camera could do everything I could possibly expect and it was unusually fast and reliable with exceptional performance. Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
The Nikon D300 is the world's best amateur camera ... It completely obsoletes everything that came before it, and especially sends the D200 and D2Xs to the dumpsters of digital history. Read the full review.

Review: Nikon D300
Though Canon may currently rule the roost when it comes to the number of DSLRs it sells, for the discerning photographer the Nikons D300 has got to be pretty much near the top of any wants list. Read the full review.

Digital Camera Review

Review: Nikon D300
The improvements are incremental over the older DX cameras, not the ground-breaking jump realized by the D3. The D300 offers better ISO performance, by an EV or so; a better continuous shooting rate; better focus tracking; better color; a better monitor. Read the full review.

Pros: Fast AF, tough, reliable and ergonomic body, features, low noise at high ISO

Cons: noise at low ISO

Review:
Very fast and reliable camera in a tough body with excellent specification. The AF is accurate and mostly also the exposure. Still I way a bit dissapointed with the picture quality. It has - of course - better resolution than D200 yet I was a bit dissapointed with the low ISO noise. I also cannot spot any improvement of the dynamic range - including in 14bit raws. Still, overall it's probably the best digital camear with APS sensor.

Pros: Construction, Features, Handling, Speed, Customizations, IQ, Dynamic Range, Low Noise Performance, Feel, Weight

Cons: Zoom Creep w/18-200 mm Kit Lens

Review:
Having 30 years experience with Canon Film cameras, deciding on Nikon for my 1st foray into the digital world was quite daunting. But after reading reviews for almost a year, and visiting camera shops to actually hold the camera I was convinced that the Nikon D300 was made specifically for me. I was totally blown away by the multitude of in-camera functions available, it was almost like having a portable dark room at my disposal..., and the menu system was custom made for the way I think, the controls logical and balanced with numerous ways to customize the controls tou tour own personal tastes. What's there not to like. For the price the D300 is a real bargin.
