Along with its new line of Arca compatible Ball Heads (see the Vanguard ABH-230L Review), Vanguard has also released the QS-60 Arca-style universal camera plate.
The QS-60 is a metal design with rubber pads to prevent the plate from being twisted off, and works with any Arca-style clamp or ball head. Installation is simple, the screw can be tightened with a socket, a 4mm hex key, or thanks to an oversized screwdriver slot, even a coin or a key.
The deep recessed pocket on the underside of the plate keeps the weight down and acts as a safety feature when used with a clamp featuring a detent pin (like the Vanguard ABH-230L).
At only $35, this plate works very well, has an excellent fit and finish, and is a bargain compared to most of the other universal Arca plates.
