Below you will find links to the manufacturers website for instructions and links to download the latest firmware for your camera or flash.
It's always advisable to keep your camera updated with the latest firmware - typically firmware updates fix problems that could negatively impact your cameras performance (e.g. the Dead Battery Syndrome on the Nikon D300) or image quality (e.g. the Black Dot issue on the Canon 5D Mark II), and often includes new features or performance enhancements (e.g. the AF acquisition improvements on the Nikon D300).
However there have been isolated cases where a new firmware update introduced problems (such as the Nikon D3 firmware that caused problems in April 2008). On the rare occasion this happens the manufacturer usually quickly withdraws the update, and releases a corrected version a few days later. Therefore we usually advise our readers to wait a few days after a new firmware is released to make sure there are no reports of problems being introduced.
